Teri Griege is Mother, Wife, Multi-Sport Athlete and Survivor. Two weeks after completing the Ironman Louisville in 2009 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer with metastases to her liver. She was not stopped by this diagnosis and continued to train for her dream: the Ironman Word Championship in Kona, Hawaii. With the help of her army of supporters known as Teri’s Troops, she trained for this grueling event while undergoing chemotherapy and crossed the finish line in Kona on October 8, 2011, at age 50.
Teri considers her diagnosis and story a gift and continues to live, train and fight her disease driven by her motto – Powered by Hope, Anything is Possible. She continues to participate in endurance sporting events completing the Six World Major Marathons and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. She travels the country as an Inspirational Speaker sharing her experience, strength and hope. She has been featured on NBC’s Today Show, as well as numerous news outlets; national magazines including USA Triathlon, ESPNw, Renew; and has received National and Local awards and recognition for her outstanding achievements. Teri has founded a non-profit, Powered By Hope, which is dedicated to providing hope, strength and education to cancer patients.
